Glenmore camogie club enjoyed a very successful season during which saw the under-12s’ won the St Canice’s Kilkenny Credit Union Group 2 championship final.
The under-14 team won the Credit Union Roinn A county final and contested in the Feile-na-nGael tournament up to the quarter-finals. The under-16s’ contested the Roinn B championship and secured two wins and a draw before being eliminated in the semi-finals.
The junior camogie team reached the final of the League where they went down to James Stephens by 4-15 to 3-5.
The minor camogie girls battled strongly in their four matches and exited the competition at the quarter-finals.
The club was well represented at inter-county level with Ruth Jones on the Kilkenny senior team and Claire Aylward on the intermediate team. At county Development Squads level and on county teams there were Marguerite and Helen Hoynes, Nicole Garvey, Regina Delehunty, Michelle Doherty, Mia Griffin, Eimear O’ Neill, Sarah Connolly, Olivia Jones Elliott, Ann Marie Phelan, Grace Roche and Cecelia Roche with all players gaining valuable experience at inter-county level.
The club thanked all trainers and mentors of all the under-age, under-16, minor, under-21 and junior teams, from the tiny tots, under-6, under-8 and on through to the under-10s’ for their huge committment. Thanks were also sent to all involved in fund-raising which kept the club in a good financial position. Parents/guardians were also tahnked for their support.
With the relocation of the Glenmore GAA club to its new address of Ballinaraha, the Glenmore camogie club thank the Glenmore
hurling and football club for all its assistance in faciliating their programme of training and matches and for access to the astro turf which will
readily address the needs and skill base of all members.
