Kilkenny’s victory in the National Hurling League amounted to nothing when it came to the picking of GAA and GPA, in association with Opel, 2013 All-Stars turling.

The Noresiders didn’t have one player chosen on the elite XV. Paul Murphy was a likely candidate, but he didn’t make the cut in the end.

All-Ireland champions Clare dominated the selection with eight players honoured - David McInerney, Brendan Bugler, Pat Donnellan, Colm Galvin, Conor Ryan, Tony Kelly, Pádraic Collins and Conor McGrath.

There are 12 first time recipients which reflects the wind of change that blew through hurling in 2013.

The 2013 GAA GPA All-Stars hurling team sponsored by Opel is - Goalkeeper 1 Anthony Nash (Cork); full backs, 2 Richie McCarthy (Limerick), 3 Peter Kelly (Dublin), 4 David McInerney (Clare); half backs, 5 Brendan Bugler (Clare), 6 Liam Rushe (Dublin), 7 Patrick Donnellan (Clare); midfield, 8 Colm Galvin (Clare),
