Colleges set for semi-final showdown

TWO KILKENNY schools will have a trip to Tipp on Saturday as they chase places in an All-Ireland final.

St Kieran’s College and Kilkenny CBS will travel to The Ragg this weekend for a colleges senior hurling semi-finals double header.

Fresh from their 2-12 to 1-12 quarter-final win over Waterford’s Colaisti na nDeise, the CBS will be in action for the third Saturday in a row. Galway’s Portumna Community School stand between the James’s Street side and a first All-Ireland final since 2007, when they were beaten by Waterford De la Salle.

Meanwhile Kieran’s will be going for their third final appearance in a row, having beaten Limerick’s Ardscoil Ris in the last two deciders. They will take on beaten Munster finalists Nenagh CBS.

Throw-in for the CBS v Portumna game is at 2pm. St Kieran’s will play their semi-final at 4pm.

The final will be held in Semple Stadium, Thurles, on Saturday, March 31 at 2pm.
