Bennettsbridge, powered by many of the same players, put the disappointed of losing the junior hurling final behind them when they roared to a good win over Dunnamaggin in the Roinn B under-21 hurling championship decider at Nowlan Park today (0-19 to 1-7).

The winners started like a run away train and raced into a 0-6 to 0-1 lead after only 13 minutes. The losers, inspired by Kilkenny senior player Willie Phelan, and with a goal from Ray Cody in the 22nd minute, got back level at 0-9 to 1-6 at the break after playing with the wind.

The winners opened the new half with a quick point from distance by Aidan Cleere. The same player repeated the act before Jason Cleere and Willie Murphy (free) underlined their superiority with additional minors.

Dunnamaggin were on the slide, and they couldn’t halt it. They were a well beaten team at the finish.

Scorers: Bennettsbridge - Willie Murphy (0-7, four frees, one 65); Hugh O’Neill (0-4); Liam Blanchfield (0-3); Aidan Cleere (0-3, one free); Jason Cleere, Cormac Wafer (0-1 each). Dunnamaggin - William Phelan (0-5 two frees, one 65); Ray Cody (1-0); Anthony Kearney, Michael Cody (0-1 each).
