Members of the public are wanted all day in Kilkenny Garda Station, Dominic Street on Friday, January 22 and don't worry, officers are not looking for help in solving any crime.
Kilkenny Lions Club with the support of An Garda Siochana are organising a collection of unwanted Christmas Toys and Gifts following the festive season.
“We need your help - After Christmas, you may have stuff you don't need following the festive season and the gardai will take it off your hands from 10am to 6pm on Friday, president of Kilkenny Lions Club, Maeve O'Flynn said.
Chief Supt Dominic Hayes said at the launch that the Garda Siochana were delighted to support this initiative.
Maeve O’Flynn wants to make the initiative an annual event and is hoping the collection will be a great success.
“These unwanted toys and gifts can make a huge difference to less fortunate children and families and if you think you have too much stuff in the house, this is an ideal way to pass on material that other people might want,” she said.
She also thanked Carlow Lions Club for their support ,and in particular their President Anthony Farrell
Toys or gifts, in good condition, can be left into either Kilkenny or Thomastown Garda Station on Friday between 10am and 6pm.
Supt Padraig Dunne said the initiative was an opportunity for An Garda Siochana to assist the people it serves not just from just from a policing point of view but from a community perspective.
