Thyestes set to thrill on Gowran's biggest day

Thousands of people will flock to Gowran Park tomorrow for the eagerly-awaited 63rd running of the Goffs Thyestes Chase.

The race meeting is always a key guide to the Aintree and Irish Grand Nationals, with stars such as Hedgehunter and Numbersixvalverde completing the big race double.

Complementing the Goffs Thyestes Chase will be the John Mulhern Galmoy Hurdle, a €40,000 race, which has been won in recent years by Dedigout, Zaidpour and Gold Cup hero War of Attrition.

Off the track, there will be some fantastic entertainment to suit all tastes including The Joe Dolan Show in The Rooftop Restaurant, saxophone supremo Thierry in The Champagne Quarter and Shane O’ Dwyer in Blinkers Bar.

The Goffs Thyestes Chase takes place at Gowran Park Race Course tomorrow (Thursday). Gates open at 11am, with the first race due to go to post at 12.55pm. Shuttle buses will leave from Kilkenny Castle from 11am.

Tickets are available at Gowran Park on the day, priced €20 for adults and €15 for OAP/Students. For more, see www.gowranpark.ie.
