Fianna Fail on course to take three seats

Fianna Fail looks set to take three seats in the Carlow-Kilkenny constituency in this General Election, in what will be a remarkable comeback from the 2011 result.

Sinn Fein will also definitely win a seat throught local councillor Kathleen Funchion – their first seat here since 1923.

The biggest talking point is the huge vote for Carlow councillor Jennifer Murnane O' Connor. She polled 4,700 in 2011, and she will get comfortably over 7,000 this time around.

Minister of State Ann Phelan (5.4%) is looking highly unlikely to hold on to her seat.
