Great turnout in Keogh's Bar for Roses introduction night

There was a great turnout inKeogh's Bar in Callan on Saturday night last for the introduction night in the Callan Rose Festival.

Family and friends were in attendance as MC George Candler asked all the right questions of the 11 girls on the evening. They chatted about everything from work, to social lives, to family and hobbies. Some even performed a party piece and showcased their talent. Judges Lyn Moloney, Yvonne Maher, and yours truly had a truly entertaining evening, and great credit is due to festival organiser Carmel Wall.

The aim of the Rose festival is to give local young women and men a festival experience, and allowl businesses to come together and support a worthy local cause.

Last year, the chosen beneficiary was the Callan war memorial, and over €3,770 was raised towards the Callan WorldWar I memorial. All proceeds from this year's festival will go to Callan United FC.

This Saturday will see a Rose and escort 1980s-style fashion show will take place in the Cosy Inn Bar.

The Rose final, at which one of this year's 13 Roses will be crowned the winner, takes place in Carrolls Bar on March 26.
