Ormonde College prepares for annual end of year show

Ormonde College of Further Education will host its annaul end of year show next week.

A drinks reception will be held at the college showcasing a diverse range of work completed by students of the Art (Portfolio Preparation), Art with Animation, and Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Fine Art courses.

This year’s show will feature works in a range of disciplines such as drawing, painting, stop motion animations, photography, printmaking, 3D combined media and digital art to name but a few.

“Every year we are extremely proud of what our talented students produce, and we have made it a tradition to open our doors to the public like this every May,” says Vincent Andrews, Head of Art at the college.

“What is perhaps most satisfying for me is knowing the problem solving processes each student went through to produce their art. We take enormous pride in producing students that are creative thinkers, and this show will be a visual demonstration of that creativity.”

Each year, students of Ormonde College are accepted onto a variety of third level courses at third level, and this year proves to be no exception. However, for some the college’s Level 6 Advanced Certificate in Fine Art provides the unique opportunity to continue their studies for a second year while remaining in the Carlow/Kilkenny region.

The college is currently accepting applications for all of their courses, and application forms will be available on the night of the show, or you can visit www.ormondecollege.ie to apply online. The college can also be found on Facebook.

The show takes place on Thursda, May 12 at 6pm at Ormonde College of Further Education, Ormonde Road, Kilkenny. All are welcome.
