It’s finally arrived and the stages are going up at the RSC in Waterford for Year 4 of the South East’s biggest and best music event, Daytripper, which takes place from this Friday, 1st, to Sunday, 3rd July. The line-up includes nearly 20 hours of top quality music from international, national and local bands over the weekend. Leftfield play an exclusive Irish live performance on Friday with support from King Kong Company, The Disconauts, Mr C & Bushwacka!, Mark Kavanagh, Shane Johnson and Republik DJs to add to the ‘Homelands Revisited’ theme. On Saturday, Ocean Colour Scene celebrate the 20th Anniversary of their classic album ‘Moseley Shoals’, ably supported by Stereo Mcs, Neville Staple (The Specials), Smash Hits, Mad Ferritt (playing an Oasis Knebworth ’96 set), Discopunks, Kelly Anne Byrne and Get Down Edits. Finally on Sunday, ‘Daytripper does 80s’ with Paul Young playing his first Irish show in 18 years with support from Aslan, Big Country, Rebel Rebel (The David Bowie Experience), Spring Break, the Unusual Suspects and 80s clubs ‘Fade To Grey’ and ‘Indie Disco’.
Tickets will be available at the box office at the RSC each evening from 6pm but weekend tickets are only available in advance. There is a major upgrade to the Daytripper production for 2016 to accompany the move to the RSC, with a huge video wall at the back of the stage and €250,000 worth of additional lighting equipment to give that BIG GIG experience. With on-site bar and food facilities plus other festival add-ons, all within walking distance of the city’s bars & clubs for that post gig drink, it’s your perfect hassle free live music event.
Individual day tickets at €42.50 and a 3 day weekend ticket at €99 are available in advance at daytripper.ie, 051 874402 and the Theatre Royal box office.
