Festival fever as Irish craft beer industry rolls into town

Kilkenny Craft Beer Festival kicked off yesterday (Tuesday), with the first of many events taking part across the city.

Costellos has brought the Irish craft beer industry to the Marble City, with 30 of Ireland’s leading craft breweries taking part in the festival. There is a beer on offer for every tastebud, from a Kilkenny Red Ale, to an American Pale Ale, to a Belgian Witbier, and beyond.

In true Kilkenny festival style, #KKCBF16 has a full week of events lined up. Explore the world of starting a Craft Brewery with a movie and tasting board on Tuesday at 8pm in Billy Byrnes (free event). Join the Kilkenny Beer Club on Wednesday to meet 'A Sester of Brewers' and taste their favourite beers from 7pm in Brewery Corner (free event).

Take a unique look at 'The Best of Kilkenny', through the lens of the brewing industry, with a guided walking tour of Kilkenny on Thursday, meeting in Bridies Bar at 7pm (ticket only - €15). On Friday, you’ll have the chance to attend a Tasting of 100 Craft Beers in Rothe House (ticket only- €20).

The climax of the festival is on Saturday with the 'Craft on Draught' beer festival kicking off at 2pm. Come along sample the beers, Meet the Brewers, make a Craft Beer Cocktail, and see how to Cook with Craft.
