Over €1.2 million for Kilkenny farm land

Over €1.2 million for Kilkenny farm land

Despite the negativity commentary surrounding the agricultural sector in recent times, local auctioneer Ed Donohoe of Donohoe Town & Country said there is plenty of interest in the market place for top quality agricultural land.

This followed a very successful auction of a piece of land at Ennisnag, Stoneyford which guided at €10,000 per acre.

The site with frontage on to the Kilkenny/Stoneyford road has 70 acres in tillage; 15 acres grass land and 5 acres under afforestation, all in one block in an area where large blocks of land rarely come to the market.

Ed was not surprised at the auction results of €13,000 per acre given the numerous enquiries and large interest he received prior to the auction on Wednesday last in the Club House Hotel, Patrick Street, Kilkenny.

There was spirited bidding at the auction when Ed announced the land was put on the market at €1 million with three determined bidders wanting to secure this large 90 acre parcel of excellent quality land.

Given there is a lot of land being withdrawn at auction of late, Mr Donohoe was delighted with the results of this auction and said that despite the doom and gloom there was still a lot of confidence in the agricultural sector.
