Royal Visit: Locals and traders ready and waiting to greet the royals in Kilkenny

Colette Power (Kilkenny) and Michelle Dunican (Abbeyleix).

Pictured are Colette Power (Kilkenny) and Michelle Dunican (Abbeyleix) who have been in Kilkenny City since 8am this morning in anticipation of the royal visit.

The pair would love to see Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and they have even brought flowers for her.

Nearby, traders at the Farmers Market are looking forward to meeting the Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Cornwall. Sinead Cranwell of Kilkenny Organic Farm said she was looking forward to offering the couple a sampling of Dragon Fire, a health tonic that she produced.

"The Prince is interested in organic growing and biodynamics so I am excited about meeting him and offering him the opportunity to sample our fare," he said.

Spelt baker Josephine Plettenburg said it was a great opportunity for the city.

"It is wonderful to have the chance to meet the Royal couple," she said.

Temperatures are expected to reach up to 18 degrees today in Kilkenny as the city welcomes the Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall.
