Royal Visit: 'It is lovely to be in Kilkenny'

The Prince of Wales and Duchess of Cornwall are now in the Long Gallery of Kilkenny Castle, where they have been greeted by almost 200 people from the world of sport, politics, business, clergy and local interests.

A number of speakers, including the Chief Executive of Kilkenny County Council, the Cathaoirleach, and Minister for Foreign Affairs are preparing to address the room. The Prince of Wales is also expected to speak.

The Prince told the awaiting media that he was very much enjoying his visit and that he always wanted to visit. The Duchess remarked that it was lovely to be in Kilkenny.

Earlier, the Royal couple met with a number of local food producers including the Truffle Fairy, Goatsbridge Trout and Highbank Orchards. Prince Charles was presented with gifts including Highbank Apple Licquor, glasses from Jerpoint Glass and a rug from Cushendale Woollen Mills.
