Henry opens 100th Aldi Store in Callan

18/04/2013 (NO REPRO FEE) Aldi today announced it is to create 300 new jobs in Ireland over the next three years as it opened its milestone 100th Irish store in Callan, Co. Kilkenny with the help of hurling legend Henry Shefflin, who was manning the checkout when Kilkenny fans David (3), Conor (8), Jack (10) and Amy Walton (6) from Callan were buying some fruit. Kilkenny hurling legend Henry Shefflin officially opened the 100th Aldi Store in Callan this morning.

The nine times All-Ireland medal winner cut the tape at the front door to this landmark store for the supermarket chain.

And first shopper in through the doors was Tipperary woman Jane O’Brien, just over the border from Nine Mile House.

A member of a local Home Care team, Jane is no stranger to early mornings was first in the queue at 6.30am this morning. Her reward was a special welcome from Henry and a bouquet of flowers.
