Chaosmos is a walkabout street show where wild beasts, masked performers, an ethereal Alchemist and a curious insect pedalling a bicycle meandered through the streets from the Castle Park to the Courthouse. A two-legged fox got more than he bargained for during the Macnas parade in the centre of Kilkenny city this afternoon. The ceature-creation, part of the breathtaking “Chaosmos” spectacle at Kilkenny Arts Festival, was doing a beast like dance, when a little brown spaniel took exception to it and started barking at it. When the fox like animal moved closer, the dog’s owner strained to keep the mutt under control. It was just part of the fun of the parade which brought the centre of the city to a halt with masked performers, an ethereal alchemist and curious looking insect pedalling a giant penny farthing bike followed by four men pushing an organ.

As the entourage rolled along High Street more and more young people gathered behind as locals and visitors watched the characters play out inter-twining, interpretive dances.
