“Kilkenny Lions are absolutely thrilled with the overall response to this year’s Christmas Hamper appeal which was a resounding success, in fact the best we have ever had,” Mr Ormond said.

“We were concerned in September when we started the project that the serious economic climate would jeopardise our efforts however thankfully our fears did not materialise. This is a testament to the exceptional support and solidarity of all local businesses and the general public who contributed so generously to our efforts. Additionally our partners, KCLR and the Kilkenny People gave unreservedly of their time and resources to consolidate this years exceptional achievements,” he added.

“Without doubt this Christmas will be extremely difficult for so many in our Community and we hope that the money generated this year will assist in reducing the hardship some family’s are facing,” he said.
