Arrests, seizures and checkpoints will take place in Thomastown throughout today as part of Operation Storm.
Over 100 officers were briefed early this morning and dispatched to a number of locations throughout the county.
“This is about the tactical deployment of a significant amount of resources. Our aim is to disrupt criminal activity, engage in crime precention and the apprehension of suspects.
Crime prevention checkpoints are taking place at Thomastown, Mooncoin and Graignamanagh.
Gardai are being assisted by Customs and Revenue and the National Roads Authority.
The mounted unit, dog unit and the garda helicopter were also used in the operation.
A number of planned arrests, searches and the execution of warrants will take place throughout the day.
