Loreto mourns loss of past principal

THE Loreto secondary school was closed as a mark of respect to the former principal who passed away over the weekend. Ms Renehan had dedicated her life to educating the students of Loreto Secondary School and will be fondly remembered by hundreds of students who passed through the school.

THE Loreto secondary school was closed as a mark of respect to the former principal who passed away over the weekend. Ms Renehan had dedicated her life to educating the students of Loreto Secondary School and will be fondly remembered by hundreds of students who passed through the school.

MS Renehan was a long term institution at the Loreto secondary school. She began teaching there in 1977 and taught thousands of students maths and science, excelling in biology, until she was appointed principal of Loreto in 2001. She served as principal of Loreto from 2001 until she retired in 2008. She successfully over saw the planning of the expansion of the school before handing over the reins of the school to the current principal in 2008, Colm Keher.

Ms Renehan was a dedicated bridge player out side of her official duties and she will be sadly missed by members of the Nore Bridge club.

After along battle with illness Ms Renenhan passed away on Sunday 01 May. She was reposed in her brother Jim Renehan’s residence before a funeral mass in St Kieran’s and burial in Johnstown Cemetery on Tuesday May 3.
