The big freeze is coming again. Don’t worry though, we’re not talking about another weather crisis, rather we’re talking about Kilkenny on Ice which returns for its second season from Saturday next.
Over 90 tons of real ice, 500 pairs of skates, an 8k sound rig and state of the art laser and LED light show along with bungee trampolines, a rodeo reindeer and the mammoth ice slide will come to life this weekend in the Hub at Cillín Hill to create Kilkenny’s very own Winter Party Palace at Kilkenny on Ice. Ireland’s premier ice rink installation promises fun for young and old alike with something for everyone this Christmas.
In response to enquiries to their box office at Supermac’s on High Street in Kilkenny, the organisers have teamed up with the Kilkenny Storm Ice Hockey Team to provide FREE skating lessons for patrons in the first skate session every day, normal skate prices will still apply in this hour but the members of Kilkenny Storm will be on hand to provide FREE lessons for tentative skaters of all ages. All skate session times are available at www.kilkennyonice.com
In a further addition to the festivities planned this year, there will also be outside broadcasts from KCLR, Beat Fm and Today Fm over the Christmas period along with a series of specially themed party nights. Sundays will be very special this year at Kilkenny on Ice with the addition of Family Fun Sundays which will include face painting and balloons for children along with some very special guests and some fantastic spot prizes and to be involved all you have to do is turn up.
