Man charged with manslaughter

A 23-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court charged with the manslaugher of a popular Johnstown man in Thurles last Feburary.

A 23-YEAR-OLD man has appeared in court charged with the manslaugher of a popular Johnstown man in Thurles last Feburary.

Jason Morrissey of no fixed abode and formerly of 2 Church Street, Toomevara, Co Tipperary was charged with the manslaugher of James Tynan, who died after an assault which occured on Liberty Square, Thurles in the early hours of February 19. He appeared in court yesterday (Tuesdsay) morning.

The defendant was remanded in custody to appear before Nenagh District Court on Friday (September 7). The defendant was arrested shortly after the alleged incident and has remained in custody since. Mr Tynan, a 25-year-old from Johnstown was critically injured in a a serious assault that occured at 1.30am on February 19. He was brought to South Tipperary General Hospital but never regained consciousness and died a short time later.
