Organisers have announced that Australian actor Luke Mitchell, who plays surf instructor and heart throb Romeo Smith in Aussie drama Home & Away, be guest of honour and assist Deirdre Shefflin and Elaine Hickey - the glamorous wives of Kilkenny hurling legends Henry Shefflin and Noel Hickey - in their selection of the Pauls Most Appropriately Dressed Lady, one of the highlights of the racing event.“We’re thrilled to have Luke Mitchell join Deirdre Shefflin and Elaine Hickey as our judges for the Pauls Most Appropriately Dressed Lady and already there’s great excitement amongst female customers about the prospect of meeting him”, commented Moira Fulton, Director, Pauls Kilkenny.

Luke ‘Romeo’ Mitchell is winner of the 2010 Logie Award for Most Popular New Male Talent for his portrayal of Romeo on Home & Away. His visit toGowranParkwill represent his first public appearance of a two-week visit.

The Pauls Most Appropriately Dressed Lady competition offers a €1,000 value prize comprising a €400 voucher for Pauls and a weekend away in Derry, the 2013 City of Culture. Judging will begin at 4.30pm before the first race at 4.45pm. The runners-up and winner will be announced from the Parade Ring at approx. 6.30pm. A second prize of a €250 voucher for Pauls Kilkenny for the Best Dressed Student will be presented by Pauls to the most stylish race goer aged between 17-22 years and there will be a further prize for the Best Dressed Black & Amber Family, sponsored by Brennan Hotel Group and Tayto.

The seven-race event will also includes: live music with “The Waxies” in the Miller Marquee; an appearance by Irish comedian Paddy Courtney from 5pm to 8pm; a designated kids play area and all the Kilkenny senior hurlers and the Liam McCarthy Cup in attendance. Attendees will also have the opportunity to win two tickets for the forthcoming Bruce Springsteen Concert in NowlanPark

Admission to the Kilkenny Senior Hurlers Family Race Day is €10 for adults and children under-16 go free. Tickets are available in advance from Pauls Kilkenny, the GAA Office at Nowlan Park and from the supporters club and club officers throughout county Kilkenny.
