Former Kilkenny hurler and Fenians stalwart Pat Delaney – a four-time All-Ireland winner and twice All Star– has passed away.

Born in Johnstown in 1944, Mr Delaney hurled with his local club Fenians over three decades, helping them to five senior county titles. He was a member of the Kilkenny inter-county team from 1969 until 1977, and during that time won four All-Irelands, six Leinster titles and one league title.

An uncle of current Kilkenny hurler JJ Delaney, he remained an avid supporter of the game after his retirement from hurling in 1982. He had suffered from illness in recent years.
