The Flynn family owned four-star Newpark Hotel has been shortlisted in the Hotel and Catering Review Gold Medal Awards in the ‘Best Family Friendly Hotel’ category.

The awards, which have been running for 26 years are widely recognised as the ‘Oscars’ of the travel and leisure world. Judged by industry experts, they recognise and reward excellence in hotels, guesthouses, restaurants, spas, clubs and catering operations across the island of Ireland.

The Newpark Hotel was purchased by The Flynn family five years ago and received a complete refurbishment. It now includes some fantastic family facilities including The Zone Games Room, swimming pool, adventure playground, giant outdoor games area and a Wild Life Farm, complete with alpacas, lamas, emus, miniature rescued ponies, goats, hens and ducks to name but a few. The latest addition is a children’s Go Karting circuit.

Mark Dunne, General Manager of The Newpark Hotel said, “At the Newpark we strive to deliver on our promise of ‘Let our Family look after yours’, over the past five years we have developed our family offering to become one of the finest four star hotels in the south east. In recent years we have extended all aspects of our family facilities within our Newpark Adventure trail such as our Kids Club which offers everything from magic shows, treasure hunts, arts and crafts. Our on-site activities now include our very own falconry experience where our guests can get up close with and learn all about large and small birds of prey. It’s the little things that families remember and appreciate, like having a dedicated ‘Kids Check In Area’ at reception where children can ‘check themselves in.” The off-site family experiences on offer include family passes to Kilkenny Castle, The Ultimate Kilkenny experience which includes a cycling tour plus an afternoon experiencing the Kilkenny Hurling Way, a tree top walk experience at Castlecomer Discovery Park, Go with the Flow Adventure Experience, a visit to Gowran Reptile Village, horse riding at Warrington Equestrian Centre and finally Art-It at MacDonagh Junction.
