A FASHION show held in the Castlecomer Discovery Park in aid of the local hospital on Friday night was such a success that the organisers are now planning to make it an annual event.
The night raised an estimated e1,300 to e1,400 for the Friends of the Castlecomer District Hospital, said Lilian Boland, who organised the event along with Anita Brennan.
It was also enjoyed by a capacity crowd, with all 180 seats occupied and another 20 spectators happy to stand for a view of the fashions.
Local models took to the catwalk to show off the range of styles, with a special appearance by John Coogan and Errol Delaney rounding off the night.
The Discover Fashion event included a selection of Danish and French designs, from labels including Green House Clothes, Friendtex, Miss Captain and Lady Captain, in addition to jewellery, bags and shoes. The clothes are available in sizes 8-24.
The event received considerable support from local businesses and residents in the area, Ms Boland said. “It was an amazing community effort from start to finish,” she said. “It will definitely be an annual event, and the funds raised will always be for a local charity.”
