RECORD temperatures were reached in Kilkenny in the past week as the county basked in glorious sunshine.
According to Niall Dollard of Kilkennyweather.com who has a weather station on the outskirts of the city, temperatures reached 26.3 degrees Celsius last Friday, breaking the previous record for May of 26 degrees.
Although recent days have seen a dip in temperatures, the summer is just beginning and the good weather is set to continue, according to Mr Dollard.
“There might be a few showers today (Wednesday) but they won’t stay around for long and we will see more sunshine for the bank holiday weekend. The sun will be shining but we are unlikely to reach the highs of the end of last week and temperatures are likely to stay in the low 20s,” he said.
