A receiver has taken control of the operation of the Rivercourt Hotel in Kilkenny, following the appointment of a receiver to its sister hotel, the Lyrath Estate Hotel in May.

Both hotels were owned by Kerry businessman Xavier McAuliffe, the founder of Spectra Photos. Bank of Scotland appointed Kieran Wallace of KPMG as receiver to the Lyrath Estate Hotel in May on foot of a debt estimated at close to €50 million.

While the receiver also took control of the property behind the Rivercourt Hotel, the receivership has now extended to the running of the four-star Rivercourt hotel located in Kilkenny city centre. Management at the hotel had ‘no comment’ to make on the appointment when contacted by the Kilkenny People.
