Wayne Byrne, Tullamaine, Callan is accused of the offence which is alleged to have taken place at John Street on November 7, 2010.

Solicitor John Harte said that his client was a doorman accused of assaulting a patron outside a premises. The court heard that there would be evidence of one punch and that the defence of self defence would not be accepted. Mr Harte stated that a civil case had been settled. The defendant is a 27-year-old single man who is currently in receipt of social welfare. The court heard that there was ‘a degree of provocation’ in the case and that the defendant had not come to garda attention since. Judge Eamon O’BRien adjourned the case to July 31.
