IRELAND’S STRONGEST man, James Fennelly will appear on the small screen on Monday night when his fitness club Fennelly Fitness is featured in a new RTE series.

The club opened it doors to the public in July 2012 catering for beginners, intermediate and advanced fitness enthusiast and individuals who simply wish to improve their general wellbeing. Established by national and international strength athlete, James Fennelly and champion powerlifter, Johnny Ryan, the club boasts a highly experienced team of staff including former Olympic Athlete, Adrian O’Dwyer.

The documentary, simply called ‘The Gym’ features four gyms based in Ireland and explores gym culture and the day to day running of a gym and James Fennelly is interviewed and conveys the importance of exercise and fitness from a general and personal perspective. “A standard day at the club will see hurlers, footballers, kickboxers, MMA fighters, boxers. powerlifters, bodybuilders, runners, golfers and many more, all using the service, both professional and amateur,” said James Fennelly, who recently won the qualifiers for Europe’s Strongest Man and competed in the World Strongest Man in LA last year.

“There is great camaraderie at the club, it’s not just a training experience, it’s a learning experience for our members. And this is all mixed in with the average gym enthusiast who has the benefit of being surrounded by those who have years of experience in exercise, fitness and nutrition and what it takes to be a top competitor and achieve results,” added Johnny . The club is also in the process drawing up health and wellbeing programmes to give people on the margins of society an opportunity to engage in exercise and sport. “We are all the time developing the service and upgrading, Our aim is to make the club ‘all-inclusive’ as our ethos is simple: health and fitness should be ‘all-inclusive” and that why our service is opened to members right across the social spectrum,” added Johnny.

The documentary will be aired on Monday, March 11 on RTE One at 9:45pm.
