A dream come true for Laura

AN 11-YEAR-OLD from Piltown has secured one the leading roles in the musical Whistle down the Wind at the Watergate theatre.

AN 11-YEAR-OLD from Piltown has secured one the leading roles in the musical Whistle down the Wind at the Watergate theatre.

Laura, one is the eldest daughter of Mary and Michael Whelan has always wanted to be a singer. Back in May she was asked to audition for this show and the rest in history.

Laura is a multi talented young eleven year old girl, who started singing at the age of three. She has numerous medals and trophies for Irish dancing with the Sharon O’Brien School of Dancing. She is also a member of Carrick on Suir Athletic Club and had achieved lots of medals in numerous sports. She won gold in three events in the local Community Games.

The talented youngster is also one belt away from the black belt in Karate. She also loves to swim and is a member of The Carrick Dippers and has won medals in galas and is a member of Piltown Camogie and Soccer club.

She ended up singing for KCLR from the City West on All Ireland day and sang a song from Whistle Down the Wind and she sang live from the annual Piltown Show. She loves to perform and has sang in lots of events for charity including for Chernobyl and plays the guitar and has started to write her own music.
