The Gowran genius is following in the footsteps of Kilkenny senior hurling team manager, Brian Cody, in getting Martin Breheny of the Irish Independent to pen the book for him.

It is expected to be published in September around the time of the All Ireland senior hurling final.

Carey, who retired from inter-county hurling at the age of 34 in 2005, is set to reveal all about a career that saw him win minor, colleges and under 21 All Ireland medals before collecting five senior All-Ireland, 10 Leinster and three National League medals. He won nine All Stars and was Hurler of the Year in 1993 and 2000.
