Gardai are investigating the break-in which took place in Farrell’s Texaco Railway Garage, opposite the Garda Station on the main Kilkenny-Athy-Dublin Road. A group of two or three people forced entry to the premises at around 2.45am on Tuesday morning.

The individuals left the scene in a silver car – possibly an Audi – shortly thereafter. They then drove down through the town.

Castlecomer sergeant David Nolan has appealed for anyone with information, who may have seen the vehicle, or who was in the area around the time, to contact him on 056-4441222.

Railway Garage was established in 1957 by Seamus Farrell and his wife Ciss, and has remained a family-run business. It also includes a shop and car dealership.
