An open garden Day in aid of the Calcutta Project will be held n Sunday from 2-6pm in Helen and Nicky Hawe’s garden just a stones-throw away from the Creamery in Windgap

On the day the official opening and a cookery demonstration will be carried out by renowned chef Edward Hayden from the popular cookery slots on TV3’s Ireland AM. Among the attractions will be a Ladies Best Hat competition on the theme of lowers, fresh, frozen or imitation with the winner receiving a €100 voucher. Plants and cakes will be for sale and there will be fabulous sponsored spinner prizes including weekends away and vouchers valued at €100. For all the visitors teas will be available with car parking closeby.

Edward Hayden’s recipes and cookery features have appeared in numerous national publications. He recently released his third cookery book, Food for Friends, in 2013. The Calcutta Project is run by Nicky and Helen for the past 23 years and supports the provision of education, homes for the elderly and medical care for the highly vulnerable street children. Having received substantial backing from individuals and businesses over the years the Calcutta Project has ensured that the full 100% received goes to the various causes.
