Emergency services were quickly on the scene at Lintown Grove yesterday evening where they battled to save the life of six-year-old Jake Brennan.
The little boy was knocked down by a car in the housing estate on the outskirts of Kilkenny City at around 6.30pm. On arrival, the trained paramedics used basic and advanced life support skills, before rushing him to hospital.
A Garda motorbike was called to clear the way for the ambulance team as they left the scene. A full resuscitation team was put on standby at the Emergency Department of St Luke’s General Hospital.
When they reached the hospital, the ambulance crew handed over to another full team who fought for almost an hour trying to save the child’s life.
