A FOOTBALLER who admitted having no insurance was fined €500 at Kilkenny Court.

Gary Breen, 4 Edenvale Close admitted the offence at Deans Ground on December 14. Solicitor Michael Lanigan said that his client, who has no previous convictions was a professional footballer who played in Portadown and lives in Kilkenny. “He has long distances to travel,” Mr Lanigan said adding that his client accepted that there was a gap of over a month in his client’s insurance lapsing. “He would appear that he had been away from home and had not applied his mind to sorting it out,” he said.

Judge William Hamill imposed a fine of €500.
