Midsummer Chamber Music in the city

ST Canice’s Cathedral Music Committee are hosting a series of midsummer chamber music concerts., The Chapter Room Concerts at St Canice’s Cathedral.

ST Canice’s Cathedral Music Committee are hosting a series of midsummer chamber music concerts., The Chapter Room Concerts at St Canice’s Cathedral.

The Chapter Room Concerts will be performed in the intimate and majestical setting of the Chapter Room. The shape of this medieval Chapter Room, originally designed to allow good audibility for speakers in all parts of the room, will lends itself to allow for excellent acoustics and perfect ambiance for chamber music.

The first concert of Camerata Kilkenny which comprises of Sarah Moffatt and Marja Gaynor (baroque violins), Sarah McMahon (baroque cello), Malcolm Proud (harpsichord) will take place on June 2. There will also be music by Cornelli and Handel which Camerata Kilkenny will perform in Vienna in July 2013.

On June 16 there will be a concert with Julia Corrie on (baroque flute) and Malcolm Proud (harpsichord) and music is by JS Bach and CPE Bach.

On June 23 Laoise O’Brien on recorder and Malcolm Proud on harpsichord - The Golden Age of the Recorder in England.

On June 30 Roisin O’Grady (soprano) and Malcolm Proud (harpsichord and organ) will perform Monteverdi and Purcell.

Tickets cost €10 (€5 concession) and are available from the cathedral shop or on the door.
