Local musician Jordan Butler has made it into the final five contestants of the Le Crunch Apple of My Eye song contest.

The fourteen-year-old managed to get enough votes from the public to keep his dream of winning the competition alive. He is now in the final five out of almost 1000 entries from across Ireland.

The announcement was made live on Today FM this afternoon. The second-year student at CBS Kilkenny will now perform at the national final in the Sugar Club in Dublin on March 7, which will be broadcast live on the KC Show and in front of the panel of judges.

The competition is a nationwide search to find the next undiscovered rising Irish star. Le Crunch asks contestants to choose a song that they love, to sing and record it, and submit it online to be in with a chance of winning part of €10,000 prize fund.
