St Canice’s Co Ed boost

St Canice’s primary school in the city has been shortlisted for the Allianz Community Arts Award 2014 for its music programme which recent received the Achievement Award from the Irish Association of a Youth Orchestras Award for 30 years of Music Making. The Senior Orchestra atthe schol has been invited to perform at the 20th Anniversary of the Irish Association of Youth Orchestras Festival at the National Concert Hall in February 2015.

The Music Programme has had a huge impact on musical education in Kilkenny and has also contributed to the enormous success of Kilkenny Music Festival which will host over 90 competitions in March 2015.

School principal Maria Comerford and Programme Director Regina O Leary are delighted with the acknowledgement of the extraordinary and unique music programme which has been growing and developing into one of the most amazing projects seen nationwide and is one of three shortlisted..
