The Kilkenny Photographic Society has opened its annual exhibition, featuring over 100 photographs on display from the members.

Deputy Mayor of Kilkenny John Coonan opened the exhbition in the Berkeley Suite of the Pembroke Hotel on Patrick Street last Friday. Cllr Coonan addressed the members, referring to one or two pictures that had caught his eye.

“I particularly like the fact that this is an amateur society – it is very inclusive – and people can develop their own talents,” he said.

“Every year, they hold a competition for Transition Year students as well. This society didn’t just happen; it is the result of a lot of hard work, and it is very special to have it along with the festival.”

The exhbition will run until August 19 from 9am to 8pm daily. All are welcome to attend.
