The fresh-thinking young producers of tomorrow are invited to showcase and sell their homemade produce as part of the Savour Festival.

From carefully-decorated cup cakes to traditional apple tarts,it will all be on show at the buzzing market environment located inWorkhouse Square in the MacDonagh Junction.

This event, which takes place on Saturday, October 26 between 2pm and 5pm, has been a highlight of the Savour Kilkenny Food Festival for a number of years. This was the first young producers’ market in Ireland and its success has been remarkable.

After attending a food hygiene presentation with the support of Kilkenny County Enterprise Board, as well as product presentation and marketing, enterprising young adults will use their creativity and flair to bake, display and sell their keenly priced produce.

It is open to all school children, and tables and stands will be provided. Entrants just need to bring their products for sale, plates and tablecloths. The participation fee is €5 per person.

All income from sales on the day is pocketed by the enterprising participants. Entry forms are available from the information desk in MacDonagh Junction or can be downloaded from www.savourkilkenny.com. The closing date for entries is this October 17.

It’s also an opportunity for members of the public to stop by to see (and taste) the talent of the younger generation. The event is sponsored by the MacDonagh Shopping Centre.
