Around 40 people – friends and those who work in the shopping centre – stood in heavy silence at the James’ Street entrance. Flowers and written tributes have begun to appear along both the High Street and James’ Street entrances, as people attempt to come to terms with what has happened.

The shopping centre remains closed this evening.

The 26-year-old shop assistant was stabbed to death yesterday evening at her place of work. The reality of it is still hitting home in Kilkenny City today, and in Kilmoganny where she is originally from.

A 27-year-old man remains in custody in connection with the killing.
