A group of around 20 young people from Kilkenny will take part in a sponsored ‘sleep-out’ at the doors of City Hall this weekend to raise money for Focus Ireland.

The event, which involves sleeping outside for the night, also raises awareness of the homeless crisis Ireland is currently facing. Focus Ireland is a charity that works with people who are homeless or facing homelessness.

The young people come from two groups within Ossory Youth Kilkenny – Youthink and Open Door.

Youthink is a group of young people who are committed to making a positive contribution to their community and to society in general, while Open Door focuses on LGBT issues.

The ‘sleep-out’ event takes place on Saturday, December 6. The groups are also organising a bake sale in St John’s Parish Centre after mass on December 14.
