Chinese national in custody over cannabis farm

A CHINESE national is being quizzed by detectives at Kilkenny Garda Station following the seizure of cannabis, estimated to be worth €320,000, writes Mary Cody.

The sophisticated growhouse was discovered yesterday at 5pm in Urlingford, just off the main Cork-Dublin motorway in a residential house. Last week gardai discovered €3million worth of the plants at a premises in Piltown in the south of the county.

A man in his 20s, believed to be a Chinese national are being held at Kilkenny Garda station under Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 and he can be held for up to seven days.
