KILKENNY hurler, Henry Shefflin made a successful comeback from shoulder surgery last night (Saturday). The 33 year old came on as a second half sub for his club, Ballyhale Shamrocks against neighbours Dunamaggin in the senior county league game played in perfect conditions at Hugginstown.

The 10 time All Star winner scored two points as his club beat Dunamaggin 5-18 to 2-8. He received a huge round of applause when he came on.

There was more good news as Noel Hickey of Dunamaggin, another eight time All Ireland senior medal winner with the county, also came through the game without injury having been sidelined for the last number of weeks. The 31-year-old started off at full back but later went out to wing back.

Afterwards, it was reported that Shefflin, who went under the knife last October after suffering an injury in the semi-final defeat of O’Loughlin Gaels in last year’s senior county championship, was fine.
