Gardaí investigating the activities of a criminal gang in the southeast have searched ten homes and arrested seven people.
The gang is suspected of being involved in armed robberies, ATM thefts, theft of plant machinery and criminal damage.
Over 60 gardai were involved in this morning’s operation. A silencer for a firearm and a scope, as well as a small number of cannabis plants have been seized.
The seven - aged in their teens, 20s and 30s - are being questioned in Kilkenny, Thomastown, Carlow, New Ross and Thurles. Criminal gangs are believed to be behind more than 70 crimes committed in counties Carlow, Kilkenny, Tipperary and Wexford in the past year.
