Local radio station, KCLR has received a major boost with funding for a number of drama projects.

The BAI (Broadcasting Authority of Ireland) has awarded €35,000 to three drama projects that will be broadcast on the station.

“This is great news for Local Radio and Local Broadcasting – the funds made available to Independent Radio Stations, and Producers, by the BAI, ensures a fresh and invigorating approach to radio and television programme making in Ireland will be maintained,” Deputy Ann Phelan said.

Previously such projects would not necessarily get the ‘green light’ as there might be issues over funding, but in recent years the BAI has funded many projects in the Independent sector. The successful candidates are Orla Murphy, Sue Healy and The Devious Theatre Company.
