Rothe House and Garden, the 17th-century Irish merchant’s townhouse and garden on Parliament Street in the city, is seeking a panel of volunteer guides for the summer season.
The house will be partially closed while the Renaissance Project is completed, and it is planned to introduce a guiding system to enhance the visitor experience during this period.
The positions are voluntary, and a commitment of at least two to three hours per week is required. Full training will be provided, and the positions will be from June until the end of September.
Rothe House and Garden is owned by Kilkenny Archaeological Society and operated by Rothe House Trust Ltd (both not-for-profit organisations). It is open to the public as a museum, garden, book and gift shop and genealogical centre.
All successful volunteers will receive free family entry (for the first six months) to a new exhibition which is being installed during the summer and will open to the public later this year.
They will also receive a copy of the latest Kilkenny Archaeological Society Journal, the Old Kilkenny Review.
