Injured man in stable condition

GARDAI have questioned a man in his twenties following an incident, which resulted in the injured party being hospitalised in Kilkenny at the weekend.

GARDAI have questioned a man in his twenties following an incident, which resulted in the injured party being hospitalised in Kilkenny at the weekend.

The incident took place in the city centre in the early hours of Sunday morning. The injured man, who is in his twenties and is from Castlecomer was hit by a car on John Street at approxiamtely 2.45am.

Gardai believe that the occupants of the car following the man down Michael Street and an altercation took place. It is believed that the man fell to the ground and hit his head on the pavement. He sustained a serious fracture to the head and was rushed to St Luke’s Hospital.

Gardai arrested a suspect on Sunday evening and questioned him for a number of hours. He was released without charge and a file on the matter is being prepared for the DPP.

The injured man remains in St Luke’s Hospital and his condition is described as ‘serious but stable’. Anyone with information is asked to contact the gardai on (056) 777 5000.
