New Deputy Principal for Castlecomer CS

Paul Behan was appointed to the post of Deputy Principal of Castlecomer Community School on March 26. Paul has replaced the much-missed and much-loved Maurice Johnston, who retired in February.

Paul Behan was appointed to the post of Deputy Principal of Castlecomer Community School on March 26. Paul has replaced the much-missed and much-loved Maurice Johnston, who retired in February.

Paul has been teaching Maths in Castlecomer since 2000 and has recently taught Applied Maths, following in the shoes (and sandals) of Philip Shore. From 2008 to 2009 Paul worked for the Department of Education and Skills as the national coordinator of support for Maths teachers. He is the co-author of the widely use Text and Tests textbooks. Paul and Pat Tynan haves facilitated the Green Schools Programme which culminated in the school’s first green flag, to be awarded in May.

Paul is pictured above with some first years and Transition Years from the Green School Committee. The school has been deeply involved in organising the re-launch of Tidy Towns on the 19th April as part of a wider Castlecomer Green Day. Details on the school website www.castlecomercs.com.
