‘Shine on Kilkenny’ writer dies

The death has taken place of popular Callan man Eamon Wall, a well-known local musician and songwriter.

The death has taken place of popular Callan man Eamon Wall, a well-known local musician and songwriter.

During his life, Mr Wall worked and recorded with many famous musicians. He is probably best known as the writer of the Kilkenny hurling anthem ‘Shine on Kilkenny’, which is always especially popular at All-Ireland time.

Reposing at his residence from 10am on Saturday, January 19. Removal will take place to St Molua’s Church, Killaloe for Requiem Mass at 3pm on Saturday afternoon. Cremation will take place in Newlands Cross Crematorium, Dublin at 12pm on Monday.
